Tours for Schools
Cockpit Arts offers tours of its studios and craft business incubator to secondary schools. During these ‘behind-the-scene’ tours, teachers and pupils will have the opportunity to meet a selection of independent craftspeople in their working environment; see how they work, view their creations, discuss the creative processes involved in their production and hear about their career trajectories as well as their future aspirations.
With a wide range of disciplines, teachers can curate their visit according to pupils’ artistic and career interests.

“Our pupils found meeting with you inspiring and extremely thought provoking. Many have already begun to implement their learning to benefit the members of their school’s community.”

Tours for secondary schools cost £150+VAT for groups of up to 30 guests for a 75 minute itinerary which includes visits to three makers in their studios. Please get in touch with Maxine to check availability.

Educational Tours
University and college groups studying arts and craft disciplines will gain an invaluable insight into the professional working world by visiting successful makers in our studios. Students and other groups with an interest in social enterprise and business incubation can also gain an exclusive insight into the UK’s only creative incubator for craftspeople.
With an array of maker disciplines including ceramics, textiles, leatherwork, millinery, jewellery and more and everything from start-ups to scale-ups, small batch producers to international exporters, guests can curate their visit according to their interests.

“It was so exciting for students to meet and talk to designers about their life and work and experience of the industry. Also it was crucial for them to know about Cockpit Arts for their ongoing studies in London.”
Julia Robson, Lecturer in Fashion, Regent’s University

We offer two educational tour itineraries depending on your group size, both include visits to three makers in their studios: up to 15 guests, 75 minutes – £250+VAT or up to 30 guests, 90 minutes – £350+VAT. Please get in touch with Sandie to check availability.

Virtual tours
If you aren’t able to come to the studios physically, we would love to welcome you for a virtual tour using Zoom. We will introduce you to Cockpit Arts and what we do and you will ‘visit’ makers in their studio. Find out about our impact, learn about jobs in the creative industries – and routes to get them – and hear from a maker first-hand. There will be plenty of time for your questions too.

“It was fantastic, we really felt like we were in the studio with Onome.”
St Paul’s Girls School Year 10 teacher

“It was wonderful to see the workshop and to learn how an artist works and what they do on a day to day basis.
The description of the fabric felt so real that even on Zoom I could almost feel it!
It was amazing to see how the artist took their first idea and then changed it into the finished project.”
St Paul’s Girls School Year 10 students

The cost of a virtual tour is £200 for groups of up to 30 participants. Please get in touch with Sandie to check availability.
