17th January 2019
Cockpit is delighted to announce that once again we’re working with The Newby Trust to offer free places at our sought-after studios. The first round will open to applications in March 2019 and we’ll announce more details soon.
The Newby Trust will generously fund two 1-year Awards. These will include a £900 bursary to the Awardee, each year for the coming three years. Their support will enable us to welcome six makers to the Cockpit Arts community.
We will support each maker both to enhance their craft at a key stage in their skill development and enable them to develop their practice to achieve financial sustainability. The Newby Trust Craft Excellence Awards will offer makers a rare and valued opportunity to develop their skill and excellence, nurturing both ability and talent.
We have a long tradition at Cockpit Arts of partnering with organisations who see the value of supporting our work, and our last round of Awards & Bursaries is a great testament to that. Sponsorship for our makers and our organisation from individuals, Trusts and Foundations, Livery Companies and private enterprises enhances Cockpit’s ability to continue and build on our unique services in the craft sector. We are committed to providing opportunities for exceptional makers as well as artists working with techniques and materials in innovative ways.
