Awards Open for Applications

We are excited to announce that we have reopened our Awards for applications. As a Social Enterprise we support talented makers by providing sponsored places at our incubators. All Awards comprise business support provided by Cockpit as well as subsidised studio space for one year.

The Cockpit / The Clothworkers’ Company Awards

This Award aims to assist three graduate weavers to set up in business. Weavers can be working in any form: for example, creating products, visual art, working with mills and making samples for industry.

The Cockpit / Worshipful Company of Turners Award

This Award is for an aspiring or established turner i.e., someone who practices the art and craft of turning on a lathe in wood or other materials. The Award will help the selected turner by providing the space and time to grow their business, increase profitability and develop their profile. We will be looking for an individual who can demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit as well as creative excellence and craft skills.

The Cockpit / Newby Trust Craft Excellence Awards

This Award aims to support two makers to practice their craft at a key stage in their skill development and support their craft business to achieve financial sustainability. The Newby Trust Craft Excellence Award offers two makers each year a rare and valued opportunity to develop their craft skill and excellence in any discipline, nurturing both ability and talent.
