MSL are huge supporters of the arts industry so when Creative Director, Dulcie Pryslopski, agreed to pick a selection of her favourite products by Cockpit’s makers, we were delighted.
Highlighted by Dulcie is Jonathan Hill, a maker musical instruments. Jonathan has an extensive practical knowledge of early stringed instrument building and specialises in the making of instruments from the Viol & Violin families, as well as traditional decorative techniques.
Wallpaper and interior accessories designer, Sian Zeng, is also high on Dulcie’s wish list. Sian turned to wallpaper designing because it united her love for painting, drawing and the printed medium. Forever fascinated by storytelling, her wallpaper collections are beautifully hand-painted and interactive to encourage people to act out their own stories at home. Sian uses cutting-edge technologies alongside traditional techniques to create an exciting, storybook collection of wallpapers and wall decorations.
Maya Selway‘s exquisitely detailed precious jewellery certainly caught Dulcie’s discerning eye. Many of Maya’s pieces are formed from hearing the stories behind client’s jewellery in the process of commissioning; the power of memories held within the material of inherited pieces, tales of jewels lost or damaged and accounts of the lives of women past and present recalled through well-loved jewels.
Ekta Kaul‘s distinctive wall hangings are highly regarded and clearly stand out to Dulcie too. Ekta’s embroidered StoryMaps seek to tell stories based on personal narratives of place, belonging and history. Each commission begins with a place of the client’s choice that they wish to have personalized cartographically – a current or a historical map of the place.
MSL tailor their designs personally to each client and take them on a journey where they are taught to love themselves and feel confident in their bespoke garment – the Semple experience.
Dulcie is Semple’s Creative Director, with a love of anything that sparkles and an attraction to all things that ooze colour. Having begun her journey as a fanatic art student at Central Saint Martins, it was there she found her passion for Graphic Design and graduated with a degree from London College of Communication. Now, Dulcie swaps and changes daily between her two loves, Fashion and Design; conjuring up anything from the latest window display to new designs for the Semple Collection.
