Poppy Fuller Abbott

With my work I aim to challenge the perception of textiles and create pieces which tell a story.

Poppy is a weaver based in London who creates experimental pieces which take the form of textiles or textile objects.
She is particularly fascinated by the heritage of textiles and how to translate this into modern culture. A large source of her inspiration is drawn from magic and superstitions, and how these have been linked to craft throughout history.
Despite strong roots in the past, Poppy maintains an innovative approach to weaving where she works conceptually to achieve her abstract and contemporary designs. Focusing on responsible production, Poppy is considerate in her use of materials and is currently experimenting with various techniques using natural dyes and hand-finishing.
For Poppy, the investment of time and skill makes handcrafted items precious and unique and she wishes to preserve this quality in her work.
