Helen Johannessen

Ceramic fine artist: surfaces qualities and perceptions

Biography

My ceramic artwork captures qualities of visual movement in porcelain, using subtle texture and illusionary effects, I explore surfaces with tone, scale and detail.

Using porcelain and plaster to explore visceral and tactile material surfaces, Helen creates illusionary effects with texture, tones and form, exploring how they shift with light and movement; engaging with a world of sensory and imaginative landscapes, aiming to silence our overstimulated, digital world; connect and nurture the imagination.
