I am a hand weaver specialising in luxurious, playful and exuberant Passementerie and textiles.
Elizabeth Ashdown is an award winning artist and textile designer specialising in intricately hand woven and hand embroidered Passementerie and fine textiles.
Passementerie is the art of creating small scale fabrics, braids, ribbons and trimmings. Elizabeth uses arresting and vibrant colour and material combinations to create distinctive, individual contemporary textiles that are rich in detail, texture and preciousness. Elizabeth works across disciplines to create work for luxury interiors and fashion, architecture, accessories and art pieces.
Every piece of work is hand crafted in Elizabeth’s studio using a myriad of traditional techniques such as hand weaving, Macramé, hand embroidery, braid making and cord making.
Elizabeth graduated from the MA Textiles programme at the Royal College of Art. She has exhibited at Texprint, Bluecoat Display Centre, The New Ashgate Gallery and Smiths Row, amongst others. Elizabeth’s clients include Liberty, Cassamance and Camira Fabrics
