I create textured porcelain vessels and make my own textile structures which combine clothes pattern drafting techniques & my own experimental stitch & knit patterns to create the surface patterns.
Annette is an award winning British designer who produces fresh yet timeless collections of contemporary ceramics, starting from her own textile structures.
After working with her family for Saville Row, Annette started her career as a pattern-cutter & designer of bespoke wedding dresses & eveningwear. She became Head Tailor at the BBC & made costumes for the Royal Ballet & ENO. She combines these skills & experience with her passion for texture & surface, to produce beautiful ceramics.
Combining clothes pattern drafting techniques & her own experimental stitch & knit, Annette makes ‘little clothes’ for each design, resulting in sensual tactile surfaces on her otherwise minimal contemporary pieces.
Annette is inspired by growing up in Soho; London culture; the glow of natural light on architectural details; elegant clothes. Her interest in the passing on of traditional techniques, along with types of joining, connecting, entwining & geometric pattern seen in the work she creates
