Biography
“The versatility of leather is enticing. Every hide is unique, I am forever experimenting to discover what I can conjure in my own personal way, creating things I wish existed….”
Brought up in rural North Wales, Fflur has always been inspired by nature. From an early age she has been creating, and developing her craft. Being a Carpenters daughter, she had a shed of tools to explore, and master her hand-making skills.
In 2006 Fflur moved to London to study a degree in Fashion Design at the University of Westminster, where she discovered leather whilst creating her Final collection. Wanting to learn more about Leather, she decided to study an MA in Accessories at the Royal College of Art. Here she mastered the art of moulding leather, she then spent two years experimenting and pushing leather to it’s creative limits to discover her own way of working with this versatile material.
These self-created techniques are the staples to her work today. Fflur combines these with traditional techniques and skills she has learnt from some of the most talented leather workers both in Britain and Italy.
Fflur’s work today captures the beauty of nature in a unique way.
