The showcase selection for this year’s Cockpit Arts Summer Open Studios has been made by leather designer, Bill Amberg.

Bill Amberg is one of the most respected names in contemporary British leathercraft. Having set up his studio in London in 1985, his reputation as a designer soon spread to the likes of Liberty, Paul Smith, Donna Karan, Romeo Gigli, Dunhill and others, who commissioned him to design accessories, while the Bill Amberg label became a badge of quality and craftsmanship around the world. In 2001, the V&A admitted the Amberg ‘Rocket’ bag into its archive of design classics.

“Having worked with Cockpit Arts for a number of years, it didn’t make choosing this group any easier.

The quality and standard of work in both buildings is fantastic and I hope these pieces represent the inspirational work available from Cockpit Arts.”
