Find out how we support designer-makers at different stages with our selection of case studies.
At Cockpit we take a holistic view. We understand that moving to our studios can be a lifestyle choice.
At Cockpit Arts we house a dynamic network of both established designer-makers and those who are just starting out. There is a really eclectic mix of jewellers, silversmiths, ceramicists, glass artists, fashion designers, product designers and more.
Having perhaps worked alone for a period, many designer-makers are keen to join our creative community and enjoy the social side of studio life. As well as the Open Studios, events such as our Summer BBQs and Christmas Parties, Last Friday ‘Maker Opens’ and our Coffee Lotto scheme can be great ways to mingle and meet people.
With your wellbeing in mind we also provide space for practitioners in yoga, Pilates, acupuncture, massage, meditation and such. Many of these sessions are offered at discounted rates and are tailored for designer-makers who work with their hands all day or who wish to unlock their creativity.
If you are interested to try your hand at a new craft, for fun or creative inspiration, some of our studio-holders also run creative workshops within our buildings and offer excellent rates.
Our studios create a stimulating space – with opportunities for sharing ideas, skills, networking and collaboration. We provide special Sounding Board sessions and other forums for exchange and interaction.
We also offer a variety of online networks to help connect our designer-maker community. Our exclusive ‘Google Group’ serves as a forum for designer-makers based at our incubators to exchange opportunities, news, share experiences, skills and advice.
